I am setting up a XenApp 6 box, I have a program that is published that when opened/launched call another published program, we are trying to use the web access for clients. I have excluded these programs from the DEP list of the server. Any ideas? Many Thanks before hand! Your blog is very nice and helpful!

      Hi CJ,

One thing that you could try is to specify a setting for your XenApp farm under the Citrix “User” Policies. There is a policy setting named “Launching of non-published programs during client connection” that can be enabled. However, I am not sure if this would help if the application you are calling is already published.

Hi Aaron, thanks for the detailed info. Because I spent my day in front of a monitor, I prefer to read from “white paper” type docs from real paper (preferably with my feet up on the coffee table & a cold drink beisde me lol :) rather than from a screen. I’ve just printer off a couple of your articles to take home but I had to manually select and then “print selection”. Would you consider putting a “print article” or at least a “print friendly version” for some or all of your great tutes please? Thanks & have a great new year! BJ

Thanks for the recommendation, BJ. I’ve found the “print friendly” option convenient on websites too.

I completely agree with BJ. I myself like to read these types of docs from real paper and have been wanting a printer friendly version.

    Dear Aaron,

you have very informative and very nice blog. I hope that you will update it with your new helpful guides and tutorials.

I want to discuss with you directly , maybe you have some information that I need.

I am creating a “cisco” lab , and I want to authenticate users via radius server. (User accounts would be in the MySQL database, they can reserve a time slot in the reservation calendar , and after that, they could access the lab at only that time ).

I am trying to implement this but there was no success, with FreeRadius on Linux, Cisco ACS and all other TACACS servers on Windows operating system.

So maybe this is possible and quite simple to do with windows OS ( as I saw you have very nice guides , how to authenticate users from radius server running on windows). Is it possible to add MySQL server to Radius server running on windows?

Thank you for your time. Hope you can answer soon.
    Best regards,
    Evaldas

    Hi Aaron,

Very informative information on XenApp, specifically installing CSG and CWI. Have you done anything with Receiver for any of the iDevices or Android. For the life of me I can’t get it working externally though it works on internal WiFi. I have a XA Services site configured that read- https://server.domain.net:444/Citrix/XenApp. I’m not specifiying the 444. I can log in fine with receiver and the applications enumerate. Thoughts…..

Hi Aaron, I have used your guides to successfully install XenApp 6.5 CSG and CWI. I have not discovered I need introduce VM Hosted Apps into my environment for some legacy apps. I see the one you have published, but that seems to be a few versions back and once I dig in, I’m sure I’ll be fine. But wondering what version and which package I’m supposed to realy get started with in my current XenApp 6.5 environment? Any thoughts would be helpful to get this up and running as my first attempt well, didn’t match up exactly or remotely to what you have and when I muddled through and pointed to my License server it said I didn’t have the correct license. Any help is appreciated. Keep up the good work on your blog :)

      Hi Sydney,

I am afraid in my current occupation I am mostly involved with Microsoft Terminal Services so I haven’t had the opportunity to work with the newer products offered by Citrix. As far as I can remember the VM hosted apps is a component that runs off of XenDesktop, so you may want to look into documentation related to that.

      Aaron
